Live at the Quarry

Weston-super-Mare’s ‘hidden gem’ Old Town Quarry is the stunning venue for a series of live entertainment taking place at the historic site from 1 – 17 July.

Audiences are invited to lose themselves in music, comedy, cabaret, theatre, dance, spoken word and stunning surroundings in this exciting new, socially distanced event, presented by Theatre Orchard and Culture Weston, and featuring collaborations with the town’s Loves Café and The Brit Bar.

An exciting and diverse mix of daytime and evening shows will take place under canvas in a stretch tent with socially distanced table and bench seating and a locally designed, artisan handcrafted bar, open during the evenings to serve up some of the South West’s best beverages.

‘Live at the Quarry’ is made possible through Arts Council England and the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, which enables Theatre Orchard to showcase a celebratory, top quality and affordably priced programme as audiences are welcomed back to outdoor arts, in the magical landscape of the quarry, situated in South Road, BS23 2LS.

Fiona Matthews, artistic director at Theatre Orchard said: “Live at the Quarry is a chance to enjoy an uplifting range of brilliant live arts events in what has to be one of North Somerset’s most beautiful and undiscovered spots.  Huge thanks to the Arts Council and Culture Recovery Fund for enabling us to get live performance back out there, affordably priced for all to enjoy.   Just a short stroll from Weston town centre and the train station, the Quarry offers an easy escape from it all and the culture you find there might just surprise you too!”

The event programme presents a variety of performances suitable for a range of  audiences, showcasing internationally acclaimed acts alongside some outstanding local and regional talent. Tickets are from £5 within group bookings for tables of up to 6 people, with a choice of bench on arrival and a bar providing table service. Some performances will offer NHS workers the chance to get a complimentary table for 6. All bookings must be made in advance at theatreorchard.org.uk, with no on door sales on the day.

All events will follow the current Covid-secure Government guidelines and may be subject to change.
