Weston presents a summer package of free community events for all!

With the forthcoming arrival of SEE MONSTER on Weston’s seafront, Culture Weston announces an eclectic programme of events celebrating the town’s community and sharing activities catalysed from ideas dreamt up by local people through a series of SEE MONSTER Think Tank groups.

The array of free experiences created in partnership with the local community and featuring associated STEAM themed activity (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) is unveiled at a new, dedicated Weston Presents page at

Over the coming months, residents and visitors alike can enjoy and take part in a host of activities, including town trails, creative installations, immersive audio experiences, upcycling workshops, art & craft sessions, SEE MONSTER Zine making, a music programme, young people’s summer course, Festival events and more.

As part of this exciting community programme, Culture Weston is presenting a free line-up of events, which everyone can enjoy in the lead up to and throughout SEE MONSTER’s residency.

Fiona Matthews, director at Culture Weston, said: “The diversity of things to see, do and experience invites everyone to join in and celebrate Weston in all its glory!

Inspired by SEE MONSTER, the activities put sustainability and imagination at the heart of the Weston experience and will provide a lasting environmental and creative legacy for the town.

“We are hugely grateful to our funders for enabling this ambitious community collaboration and to all the partners, practitioners, organisations and venues we continue to work closely with to deliver it.”

Mark Canniford, Executive Member for Placemaking at North Somerset Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see the Weston Presents STEAM events planned for the town centre in the run up to and during SEE MONSTER. Local businesses and residents have asked for more activity while this world-first, flagship project is in Weston and will benefit from the diverse programme of community activities taking place, as increased footfall comes to town to enjoy the free events.”

The community programme has been supported in various aspects by a range of organisations, including Arts Council England, North Somerset Council, Weston Town Council, Without Walls, Somerset Community Foundation and Burnham Sunshine Fund.

SEE MONSTER Think Tank leads come from Weston Artspace, The Stable, Cleaner Coastlines and Weston-super-Mare Then and Now.

SEE MONSTER is part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.
