A Dance Response to In Memoriam
Open Community Chorus rehearsal, amongst the flags of In Memoriam
Dancers from the internationally acclaimed Company Wayne McGregor, local dance practitioners and dance students from Weston College have created a performative response to Luke Jerram’s In Memoriam artwork that explores how we relate to bodies – ours and others – following the experiences of the past 18 months. This premiere performance, which also involves wider members of the community – promises an elemental and cathartic dance experience and will take place on Friday 24 September, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm.
Culture Weston are looking for people within the North Somerset community to join us in learning some movement via video prior to the community rehearsal on Thursday 23 September, 6-7.30pm and Friday 24 September 12-2pm on the beach by the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare. Inspired by a poem written by Beth Calverley, Poet In Residence, UHBW Hospital Arts this simple piece of choreography can be learnt in sections. Please learn as much as you can manage. The material can also be performed seated or adjusted to your own physicality.
