Street Art
Upfest makes a mark downtown – Europe’s biggest urban paint festival is decamping to Weston this Summer. Working in partnership with Weston Town Council, Culture Weston and numerous local artists and organisations several newly commissioned murals are being installed by some of the UK’s leading street artists brightening up the town centre to make everyone feel good. Go out and explore to see how many you can find.
Also on display in the town centre will be panels of street art created across the month by local artists and communities, for whom the phrase ‘express yourself’ comes easily with a paintbrush or spray can to hand.
Active Transport
Throughout Weston Arts + Health Week we will be highlighting active and enjoyable ways to travel between the hospital and the town centre. To benefit both physical and mental health, try the coastal walk along the sands or hire a bike from Weston-super-bikes at Uphill’s Wharf Cafe. Don’t have a bike? Artist Benches
Through Weston Arts + Health Week, regional artists are pairing up with community groups to create a range of colourful new benches for the grounds of Weston General Hospital. These will provide distinctive resting spots and creative stimulation within the hospital’s outdoor spaces. The benches will be created over the Summer, they will be in situ for Arts + Health Week in September, and provide a legacy of the event for many years to come
