It’s a real privilege to work somewhere like Weston, where the friendly people, ‘can do’ attitude and amazing landscapes are as invigorating as the sea breeze.

Culture Weston is managed by Theatre Orchard, a North Somerset arts development charity that I founded 13 years ago as Arts Development Officer for North Somerset Council.

During this period, I have also independently produced theatre productions/national tours for a range of companies including Living Spit, Company of Angels and Bristol Old Vic.

Before moving to the South West, I worked in book publishing, then moved through live arts roles to become Arts Sponsorship Manager for J Sainsbury plc.  This brought opportunities to collaborate with an amazing array of artists, national and regional galleries, theatres and cultural organisations, plus media broadcasters, on a host of creative initiatives. ’Highlight projects included the award-winning Sainsbury’s Pictures for School,  BBC Choir of the Year,  ‘Faces of the Century’ with the National Portrait Gallery, plus supporting the development of Sainsbury’s Bookstart (the world’s first national book-gifting programme).

Throughout all these roles, my main motivation has been to create opportunities for everyone, whatever their background, to access outstanding artistic experiences that can do so much to transform  how we think and feel.  Let’s raise a glass of ‘air like wine’ to the next exciting chapter of Weston’s cultural story!
