Paula

After 15 years here I love working and living in Weston “super dooper” Mare and feel very connected to the town and its people.

I came from Preston, via Salford University where I studied Popular music and Recording. I travelled and landed in Australia where I learnt sound and lighting working intensely for 4 years including at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

My role now sees me produce the climate carnival and work closely with the team on many of our other projects.

During the pandemic I came up with the idea of GLOW to enable people to come together in a safe way. This light festival has been embraced by the people of Weston and is now a flagship event in our winter calendar. As artistic director I work closely with the Super Culture team to deliver it.

Our environment and social/climate justice have always been something I’ve fought for. I campaigned against old growth tree felling when I was 15, Uranium mining in Australia and for the rights of asylum seekers and more recently climate activism with Extinction Rebellion.

My role now includes being a sustainability champion for Super Culture where I help us reduce our carbon footprint, act responsibly in how we operate as a company, and give a platform to other artists making change.
